Concordin justified some good support to land the Cardinal Capital Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown.
The point-to-point winner was recording his third success under rules when getting up in the final strides to collar Artful Artist
The final flight was omitted due to an earlier fall of Robbie Colgan from Ros Brin and the Robert Tyner-trained gelding needed every yard of the lengthy run-in to land the spoils.
The 5/1 (from 13/2) chance prevailed by a head, with Top Othe Ra two and a half lengths away in third and Dawerann completing the places in fourth.
Tyner said, “He’s given a bit of trouble along the way and we had him over fences last season. His mark was there over hurdles, and we decided to use it (this season).
“Two and a half miles would probably suit him even better but he did it well. He could run over hurdles or fences now. He’s entered in the opportunity chase on Thursday but will not run now.”
