Comfort Line successful three times for Mick Mulvany, finally came good for Ado McGuinness after dropping significantly in the ratings this year to take division two of the Story Of Dundalk Stadium Book Buy Online Handicap.
There were plenty of the 14 runners still in contention as Comfort Line held a narrow advantage over a furlong out.
The 7/2 favourite, who was available at 15/2 this morning, kept on under pressure for Adam Caffrey to just hold off the late surge of Leabaland by a nose. Sunset Nova was two and a half lengths back in third.
McGuinness said, "That's grand as we have lost a few and have had a dose of seconditis. I just didn't know as it always favours the lad coming at you, thanks be to God he did (hold on).
"I was going to take him out and wait until next Wednesday over the mile and two. He's a funny old horse and last week he didn't travel over a mile and two. Today, he was tanking over a mile, so he's just one of those type of horses but a good fun horse.
"He has been a bit frustrating, but at least he has a win now for Martin (White) and Dooley Thoroughbreds.
"We will be quiet enough on Wednesday, but will have a few this day next week. Then we are getting thin on the ground for the horses.
"We are looking forward to getting a little bit of a break for the lads. A good few of them will be away on holidays. I'll sit back and watch a good bit of racing at Leopardstown over Christmas, so I'm looking forward to that!"
