Comet flies home in bumper
Jason McKeown produced Donatis Comet with a perfectly timed run to land the concluding bumper at Down Royal.
Even-money favourite Trabajo battled his way to the front a furlong from home but couldn't hold the late charge of Pat Martin's charge.
The Spinning World gelding found another gear in the closing stages to record a length-and-three-quarters success.
"He's a nice horse and ran well at Cork last time. Jason said he came on a good bit from that run," said Martin.
"He'll probably end up being a Flat horse. I've tried him before in stalls but he panicked and I thought this was a good way to get him relaxed. He could go back on the Flat now."
The winner had lined up in a maiden at Roscommon last year only to to break out under the stalls and be withdrawn.
Mikey Fogarty, who rode the runner-up, was hit with a four-day ban for excessive frequency with the whip.
