Colour Of Love landed the 8/15 odds in the three-runner fillies’ race at Tipperary but not before Wayne Lordan had to get busy on her to go past Modern Romance
The win brought up a double at the track for Lordan. He was content to track Pat Smullen on Modern Romance in the extended seven furlongs contest as the pair shook off Lady Pastrana
When Smullen set sail for home, Lordan switched his mount out from behind and got on top in the last 200 yards to reward backers who had punted her down from 8/11 in the betting ring.
Successful trainer Willie McCreery said: “She hated the ground. I just couldn’t believe there was only three declared when I saw the runners yesterday.
“She ran a great race in Naas the last day. She just got going a bit late but she ran the same there today. That’s just the way she races.
“We can’t complain as she has been a very good servant and she has won six for us now.”
Colour Of Love won by three parts of a length. Modern Romance was a market drifter from 11/8 to 7/4 on course. It was a further 11 lengths back to 10/1 outsider Lady Pastrana and Niall McCullagh.
