- Codd has the last laugh
Codd has the last laugh
Jamie Codd was seen to good effect when getting Minella Humour (4/1) home in front in the Joe Bollard Memorial Flat Race.
Codd, fresh from recording his first century of winners in a point-to-point season, sent the six-year-old gelding into the lead approaching the straight and grimly held off the challenge of 100/30 favourite Paudi The Punter by a length and a quarter. Minella Minstrel (16/1), a stablemate of the winner, finished best of all to be just half a length further away in third.
Winning trainer John Nallen said: “I was always fond of him but he lost his way a bit. He'll jump hurdles now and might go to Galway.”
Nallen also indicated that Minella Minstrel could be heading to Ballybrit for another bumper.
