Market leaders Engisn (8/11, 3rd) and Cascavelle (13/8, 4th) didn't come up to expectations as Escape Clause (10/1) scored on debut under Colm O'Donghue in the Jet O'Carroll Memorial EBF Maiden at Listowel.
O'Donoghue was aboard the Lawman colt for Jessica Harrington, and he got home by two and a half lengths from Tommy Hallinan (20/1, first-timer).
O'Donoghue said: "Jessie liked him and said that he'd need further. He's still a bit raw, and they are testing conditions. They are getting well into it, and stamina really comes into play." Ensign was in trouble from some way out and he ended up a further half length off the principals in third.
Cascavelle was a further head back in fourth.
