Choice crashes out to hand it to Maid
Maid Of Malabar benefited from the departure of Royal Choice at the last to take the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Chase.
The chestnut daughter of Oscar Schindler was booked for second when Royal Choice failed to take off and gave Andrew Lynch no chance of staying aboard at the final fence.
Winning trainer, Ted Stanners said of the Shay Barry-ridden one and a quarter length victor: "She is a top of the ground mare and any of the boys that rode her before said that she needed fences.
"It was a bit of an ask coming here on her first start over fences but there aren't many opportunities and this one was at the local track."
