Chica Guerrera justified good support when running out a cosy winner of the opening nursery at Gowran Park this afternoon.
The Mark Fahey-trained filly was as big as 8/1 this morning and having been backed into 7/4 she eventually went off 7/2 favoruite.
Keithen Kennedy produced his mount with a strong surge to lead going to the furlong pole and she soon settled matters.
The daughter of Saxon Warrior went on to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths from long-time leader Your Call in the seven-furlong contest.
The winner was making her handicap debut today having been well held in four maiden runs.
Fahey said:- “The soft ground really suited her today. We’re delighted with that and hopefully she can climb up the ladder a bit.
“There is a nursery at Galway next Monday that we might look at but we’ll see how she is first.”
