Cawley records first winner
The Biggest cheer of the evening was for local jockey Brian ‘Soldier’ Cawley after he recorded his first winner on the track when coming home in front of the Irelandhotels.com Flat Race aboard 10/1 shot Honours Graduate from the Paul Gilligan stable
Cawley who hails from Craughwell Co Galway is a brother of champion conditonal rider Alain ‘Sqeaky’ Cawley. The twenty three year old who previously worked for Willie Mullins has been based the Gilligan stable for the last couple of years.
Cawley raced the Presently filly in behind the leaders, the pair took up the lead from over 1f out and kept on well to hold off the Willie Mullins trained Hayabusa by 1 1/2 lengths.
