Mystic Embarr bridged a gap of nearly three years between his only previous win when landing the fairyhouse.ie (QR) Handicap Hurdle (div 2) at Fairyhouse, as the Eddie Cawley trained nine year old bagged his second course success.
Previously successful at this racecourse on NewYear's Day 2018, the son of Kutub was today having just his fifth run since that first win, and scored a comfortable seven lengths win under jockey Cathal McCormack.
Afterwards trainer Cawley reported “on paper it looked a good opportunity and it’s grand to get one. He’s been knocking on the door for a while.
“I always felt he wanted three miles but I said we’d give this a go (over 2m3f) and give Cathal a spin on him as he works in the yard for me. He didn’t do anything wrong.”
