Causey Arch benefitted from a cool ride by David Mullins to take the Dermot Hughes Car Sales Rated Novice Hurdle at Roscommon.
Just seven went to post in this 2m4f event but four of the septet were in the air together at the last.
However Mullins oozed confidence on the 5/1 chance, trained by his uncle Willie, and the son of Jeremy quickened up when asked for an effort on the run-in to beat Canardier by three quarters of a length. Scheu Time was just half a length away in third, with Eamon High the same distance further back in fourth.
David Mullins said, "He is learning the whole time and when I rode him at Punchestown he was like a fish out of water in a competitive two miles race. I'd say the benefit of experience helped today and he is really starting to come to himself. I'd say he'll stay improving."
