Trainer Joe Murphy registered his fifth winner of the month when well backed Fit For Function landed the Racecourse Of The Year Handicap at Leopardstown today, under a canny front-running ride from Gary Carroll.
Carroll and Fit For Function kicked for home turning0in and in the end Carroll preserved enough to enable the gelding record a three parts of a length win over Blairmayne
Afterwards Murphy stated “Gary's enterprising ride stole the day as I thought the favourite (Balirmayne) was a certainty.
“He's a very hard horse to get fit but I don't think he'll have any problem getting seven (furlongs).
"I think he would be an ideal horse for Galway but it depends what the handicapper does with him."
