Carberry at his best aboard Russian War
Gordon Elliott and Paul Carberry recorded a quick double this afternoon when Russian War justified his short price when claiming the Grangeclare Paddocks Open Farm Maiden Hurdle in good style.
Carberry who carried the colours of Tom Howley, settled his mount in mid-division and made his progress on the outer entering the straight.
Carberry who oozed confidence aboard the 9/10 favourite sat patiently and hit the front on the run-in before staying on for an easy win over Ben Of Fore
Winning trainer Elliott said afterwards: “I’m delighted for the owner Tom Howley (supplies easy fix hurdles to racecourses).”
“Paul [Carberry] is a genius, he is riding out of his skin at the moment.”
