Captain Power wins Claimer, goes unclaimed

The Eddie Lynam trained Captain Power gained a sixth career success and his first at Dundalk this evening when readily justifying 5/4 favouritism to win the Dundalk Stadium Claiming Race, before going unclaimed.
The son of Captain Rio, under jockey Conor Hoban, moved to challenge travelling well two furlongs out and in the end scored a comfortable three parts of a length win over Approbare
Afterwards Lynam stated “I thought at the start of the year the way he was handicapped that he’d win one. He ran well in a lot of them but he didn’t win any so we dropped him down to a claimer and we handicapped him ourselves.
“He’s been a good horse to us and has won half a dozen. If someone claims him they will get plenty of fun out of him and if they don’t we’ll run him again somewhere. It’s nice to get another win with him.”
There were no claims made in the race.
