Course specialist Captain Joy gained a sixth win at Dundalk this evening in the Dundalk Stadium - Light Up Your Night Handicap, justifying 9/4 favouritism for jockey Joseph O'Brien.
The Herb Stanley owned five year old gelding has a 50% record at the venue and despite being no win from 15 starts on the turf, has now won half his 12 starts on the polytrack.
Winning trainer Tracey Collins later stated “he's very good up here, very consistent. He loves the place and never runs a bad race.
“He won't go to Dubai as he didn't handle it last year but there isn't much here now for him. There are those all-weather championship races in England and we might head in that direction.”
