One Can Cally caused a 12/1 upset when winning the opening ML Fennelly & Affidea Maiden Hurdle at Gowran today, scoring for trainer Liz Doyle and jockey Brian O'Connell.
The daughter of Scorpion was held up behind the leaders but eventually improved to lead after the final flight, before beating 8/11 favourite Dubai Devils by two and a half lengths.
Afterwards O'Connell stated “she’s been struggling on bad ground, and today’s ground was not as heavy. It was a slowly run race, and she quickened up well from the last.”
