Gordon Lord Byron looked a sprinter going places when landing the six-furlong conditions race at Cork in some style.
Fran Berry let his mount cruise into the lead under two furlongs out as front-running favourite Croisultan gave way.
The Tom Hogan-trained gelding was asked for an effort inside the final furlong and showed a nice change of gear to settle matters.
The 9/4 shot went on to post a cosy two-and-a-quarter length success over Six of Hearts who kept on well for second without threatening the winner.
Gordon Lord Byron was made a quick return to action having taken a Tipperary handicap eight days ago.
"Tom was keen to run as he came out of the race very well from the last day," said Berry afterwards.
"He travelled very very easily. The favourite Croisultan folded at the two pole and my fella won very easily.
"He goes on any ground and is versatile trip wise as well."
