Burma Star owned and trained by Dermot Weld and ridden by stable jockey Pat Smullen, justified good support in the Bet Online At theTote.com Maiden at Ballinrobe.
The Shamardal filly challenged the front-running Remarkable Lady entering the straight in this extended nine furlongs event, and struck the front about 150 yards out.
The 2/1 (from 5/2) favourite kept on to beat chief market rival Remarkable Lay by a length and a quarter, with Best Destination another length and three quarters away in third. Creadan was hopelessly left in the stalls losing considerable ground but kept on to eventually finish sixth of the 12 runners.
Smullen said, “She is a well-bred filly and it was important to get a winning bracket for her. It didn’t look the strongest of maidens in the world but it was an important win for her."
