British trainer Paul Midgley registered his first Irish winner, on just his second attempt, when his Line Of Reason landed the Paddy Power Scurry at the Curragh today, under three pounds claimer Leigh Roche.

Midgley, whose only other Irish runner Monsieur Joe finished third in the earlier Sapphire Stakes today, later stated “that's my first winner in Ireland and both my horses today ran excellent races. It's a great prize to win.

“We've always had a lot of confidence in him but from last year he needed to mature so we castrated him over the winter. Before Monsieur Joe won at York he (Line Of Reason) did the best piece of work I've rode him and I knew when the ground dried up that, when he got a fast pace that there was a big race in him.

“We might go for William Hill Sprint now and he could go for a few of those big six furlong handicaps.”
