Bright N Shine scored on just his second start since joining Terence O’Brien last month when landing division one of the Now Racing Every Wednesday At Dundalk Handicap.
Adam Caffrey had to navigate his way around a loose horse inside the final furlong before getting the well-backed 4/1 chance up in the closing stages to deny 11/5 favourite Neverfindanother U by half-a-length.
The front-running Kartayaz was a further two and three-quarter lengths behind in third.
Wayne Hassett was unseated from Crystal Pool leaving the stalls but the young apprentice, successful earlier on the card aboard Clonmacash was able to walk away from the incident.
Caffrey said, "I rode him earlier on in the year and I really liked him. I just thought he was very immature when I rode him and green, he pulled very hard too.
"Terence has him now and they have done a fine job on him at home. He is learning to relax a lot more, he settled really well there.
"He travelled away for me and quickened up, and he has done it well in the end.
"He's a great mover and he handles it (surface) really well. There is definitely more to come from him."
Caffrey finished second to Jamie Powell in the apprentice championship this year.
