The Danny Murphy-trained Brigadier Kakuru proved too strong for his rivals when making a winning start in handicap company in the six-furlong nursery at Dundalk.

Colin Keane, riding a double on the card after his earlier win on Chicago Storm sent his mount straight into the lead and the gelding was asked for his effort going to the furlong pole.

The 9/4 favourite, easy to back having been as short as 11/10, always looked in control in the closing stages as he posted a length-and-a-half success over Movin And Groovin

Brigadier Kakuru was making his fourth career start and had finished fourth in a maiden here last month over seven furlongs.

Murphy said: "It was a great run the last day.

"I'm delighted for the owners because they have backed me all the way.

"He was keen early and even Colin said you could bring that fella back to five (furlongs) if you want.

"There is a bit more in the tank there.

"We'll find another one for him in January, he seems to like it here. I'll see what the handicapper does to me."
