Bridget settles better to get off the mark
Bridgets Pet was agonisingly for his backers narrowly defeated at Kilbeggan last time but again as market-leader the chestnut made absolutely no mistake in the concluding Unilever INH Flat Race at Downpatrick.
As was the case at Kilbeggan, Mickey Fogarty was in the plate and he gave the successful four-year-old Arakan gelding a lovely waiting ride. He breezed into the lead under two furlongs out and he went away in the final furlong to easily defeat the second favourite Falcarragh by six lengths.
Kieran Purcell trains Bridgets Pet for his wife Josephine and he said: "He pulled too hard the last day but he settled well today. Mikey gave him a lovely ride.
"He didn't take too much out of himself there and he could go for a winners bumper now."
