The Jim Bolger trained Sar Oiche (11/4jf) gained her first win at the eighth start at Dundalk this evening, winning the opening Mary Bourke 70th Birthday Maiden under the trainer's stable jockey and son-in-law Kevin Manning.
The daughter of Teofilo needed to battle to eventually hold the challenge of the other 11/4 joint-favourite Viaduct Joey by a head.
Afterwards Manning stated "she stayed on well over the extended ten furlongs here the last day and saw out the trip well.
"She was hit twice in the face with a whip when coming to challenge and she had to be brave."
