Brave Betsy does it for the Locals
For the second time in as many races morning money was proved correct as Brave Betsy (at least 10/1 early into 6/1) struck a blow for the fairer sex as she beat the geldings in the Athboy Hurdle for the Dunderry-based Clady Syndicate and Trim-trainer, Michael Fitzsimons.
Davy Russell was aboard the daughter of Pistolet Bleu and she was left in front at the third last when Charlie Yardbird fell. From there on she contained the favourite, Faltering Fullback by two and a half lengths.
Paul Carberry, rider of Charlie Yardbird, was stood down for the day after injuring his knee. (EM)
