Trainer Harry Rogers got off the mark for the season when his Botanical Lady landed the Joe Queenan Gala Strandhill Supporting Sligo GAA Fillies Handicap at Sligo today, scoring under a well judged ride from Wayne Lordan.
The daughter of Moss Vale was held up by Lordan who made his move in the home straight before the pair passed the post two and a quarter lengths ahead of Queen Zain
Rogers, registering his first success since Acroleina at Laytown last September, later commented “Wayne was good on her; she used to make the running but got a bit fed-up with that and did it well tonight.
“That's my first one of the year and it's for a good owner!
“We'll keep things going now and she's in at Bellewstown on Friday. Hopefully she gets in there as she looks on the right side of the handicap.”
