Turret Rocks and Moonlight Magic didn't come up to the mark over at Epsom, but Jim Bolger kept homes fires burning when Qatari Hunter took the honours in the www.trm-ireland.com Handicap at the Curragh under Rory Cleary.
The Footstepsinthesand colt may have been inclined to edge to his right when coming through from the back with his bid on the outer in the final quarter mile.
However that took nothing from the manner of his victory as the handicap first-timer slammed Newsman by three lengths.
"He travelled into it nicely. He had good runs on slower ground and we were waiting on some nicer ground for him. He handled it well and I was happy with him," reflected Cleary.
R.P. Whelan, rider of The Mouse Doctor trained by Brendan W.Duke, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was checked slightly in the closing stages.
