Blackbriar makes her experience count

Blackbriar displayed the benefit of experience when getting off the mark on start number seven in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Cork.
The Wayne Lordan-ridden daughter of Kyllachy raced on the near side (always to the fore) and she got the better of I Well Excel (similarly experienced and raced far side here) by four and three parts of a length.
Big money newcomer General Marshall had to settle for third, three and a half lengths further back.
Tommy Stack trains Blackbriar, who was equipped with first-time cheek-pieces here, and his son 'Fozzy' said: "Experience is always a help and the cheek-pieces were a help too.
"We'll look for a bit of black-type now and there's a Listed race that would suit at the Curragh." (TW & EM)
