Birthday winner for Swan
Nine times Irish Champion Jumps Jockey turned trainer Charlie Swan celebrated his 44th birthday with a winner at Dundalk tonight courtesy of Prince Of Fire in the [email protected] Maiden.
Winning jockey David Casey was partnering his first winner on the polytrack surface at the track, having previously ridden a winner at the old turf course.
Afterwards Swan said “we’ve always thought a lot of Prince Of Fire, he works so well at home but it has taken me a long time to realise that he wants good ground.
“He might come back here again and hopefully he’ll get a bit of confidence from that. He certainly won’t run again on heavy ground.”
Third placed Discovery Bay also represented Swan and he later stated “he had never run further than ten furlongs before and he was a bit keen at home. There’s a race for him here in two weeks time in a mile and a half maiden and he also jumps well.”
