The Ger Lyons-trained Bingo Bronson looked a nice prospect when making a winning debut in the nine-furlong maiden at Leopardstown tonight.
The Gleneagles gelding went to post 11/4 favourite on his racecourse bow and that market confidence proved well founded.
Colin Keane produced his mount to lead a furlong-and-a-half from home and he soon settled matters.
The winner was easing down close home to post a four-length win over Westernesse
“He's a nice horse. I came back after my holiday last winter and and there were about 12 or 15 of that type in the yard and I went jaysus who bought all the jump horses!” said Lyons.
“I said one of them will pay for the others. We knew we liked him, he's very much a baby and that's as quick as he'd want it.
“It's lovely ground out there and he loved it. He wants 10 furlongs minimum but I'd say you won't see the best of him until next year, if we still have him.
“I was going to wait another month with him, we've no big plans with him and I'll just let him tell us.
“He's very much on the leg and I'm getting a bit impatient as I have a load of two-year-olds the same.”
