The remarkable Billyford completed a hat-trick of Dundalk wins in the BWG Foodservice Handicap at the venue this evening, scoring for trainer Liam Roche and jockey Declan McDonogh.
The gelding had been off the track for over three years, partially due to an ownership dispute, before returning to action last season and, despite taking a few runs to get back to winning ways, has really hit to form in recent months.
Afterwards Roche said “we gave Billyford a little break and has come back a bit fresh and keen but Declan (McDonogh) had him in the right place.
“He is very ground dependent and has to have good ground. I'd like to run him in the Irish Lincoln but he is unlikely to get his ground and the Winter Derby at Lingfield could be another option.”
