Billyfairplay was successfully claimed following his win in the Road To The Kentucky Claiming Race at Dundalk today as the Johnny Feane trained gelding now joins trainer Denis Hogan, who sent out runner-up Tony The Gent
Billyfairplay, a son of Dark Angel, was registering a fourth all-weather success, having previously won at today's venue, Wolverhampton and Newcastle, all in 2018.
Billyfairplay, under Ben Coen, today beat runner-up Tony The Gent by a neck and following the race winning trainer Feane said “he missed the break and I was worried for a while as he was behind and wide. Ben gave him a great ride as he caught a hold of him before he turned in and one thing about him is he tries hard and stuck at it well.
“It’s nice to get him to win again. He went up 17lb for winning by eight lengths one night. The handicapper got a hold of him and then he was second in Wolverhampton and ran well here last week.
“Six is his optimum trip and it’s grand to get him to win again.”
Following the race Billyfairplay was claimed for €8,000 to be trained by Denis Hogan while third-placed Crystal Dawn was claimed for €3,000 to be trained by Gavin Cromwell and eight-placed Hypnotic Force was picked up for €4,000 to be trained by John McConnell.
