Big Fella Scores in Wexford Again
Ard Agus Fada obviously likes the Wexford air and after a point-to-point success at nearby Lingstown the towering chestnut got off the mark on the racecourse proper when he landed the Carnsore Point Handicap Chase.
Shane Jackson got to the front on Philip Rothwell's charge (backed in from 12s in the morning) after two out and despite wandering on the run-in he had enough in reserve to see off Rossberry Lad by three lengths.
Ivan Freely, from Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo said of his horse: "He is 17.3 and that is why he is called Ard Agus Fada (High and Long in English). We bought him as a yearling in Tattersalls and he'll go out in the field now. We think there is room for improvement. Philip is over in Ffos Las where he had a runner."
