Paul Carberry (minor ankle ligament injury and he'll be fine for Cheltenham) certainly had a day to forget after two unseats necessitated his replacement by Danny Mullins on Gallant Oscar in the Woodlands Park 100 Club Leinster National Handicap Chase at Naas. Mullins, on the mark earlier on Sammy Black doubled up in the valuable three miler on Tony Martin's charge.
On outing number three for Martin, Gallant Oscar travelled through this event with ease under a confident Mullins.
He let the Oscar gelding, from the immediate family of 'banks' great, Risk Of Thunder, lead at the last and he asserted away on the run-in to triumph by three and a quarter lengths from Saoirse Dun with a nose back to the favourite, Los Amigos in third.
"He jumps exceptionally well and that's his forte – deep ground and plenty of jumping. They are his ideal conditions," remarked Martin. (AM & EM)
