Berry doubles up on Fammi
Tramore specialist Fran Berry doubled his score at the third session of the August Festival when he got the top-weight Fammi Sognare home by three lengths from Hawk Dance (had looked likely to score) in the McDonald Brothers Handicap.
Berry, earlier successful on O'Bella Ballerina got Fammi Sognare to the front under a furlong out and she stayed on well to prevail and the front two left Whitehead Lad a further five lengths back in third.
Winning trainer Tony Mullins commented of the three-year-old, who competes in the well-known Bernie Gaffney colours: "For a heavy set filly we thought she wanted a cut in the ground but she's won twice on firm now so what we thought doesn't count. If it stays fast she'll go for another flat race.
"The plan though is to make a three-year-old hurdler out of her. She is tough and robust with a great temperament."
