Berry at his usual best
The Charles Bynres trained Napa Starr claimed the Racing Again June 11th Handicap under a fine ride by Fran Berry.
The 3/1 shot was slow out of the stalls but benefited from the assistance of Berry who worked hard to get his mount to lead on the run-in and score by a length and three parts.
The French-bred also got rid of Berry when leaving the parade ring.
Winning trainer Byrnes said afterwards: “He’s a quirky type, the last time he won he got rid of Declan McDonogh leaving the parade ring so maybe it’s a good omen.”
“We’ll keep tipping away with him, he’ll have to go up a grade now after that and we’ll probably go hurdling with him later on.”
