Berry at his best aboard Alaia
Fran Berry completed a double this evening when taking the concluding I.T.B.A. Southern Region Members Having Fun At The Races Maiden aboard 1/2 favourite Alaia
Berry sent the odds on shot to the front entering the straight, the pair were strongly pressed by Seven Summits and Johnny Murtagh inside the final furlong.
The Sinndar filly responded well to pressure the hold on for a narrow victory.
Jim O’Neill assistant to winning trainer John Oxx said afterwards: “She has come on from her run at Gowran Park.”
“It looked to be a better race than it read on paper. I think she’ll get a mile and a half so we’ll see what kind of a mark she gets before we make any plans.”
“The fast ground is really vital to her.”
Berry was on the mark earlier when Keep It Cool won the Sean Barrett Insurances Race.
