Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh had just one runner at Navan this afternoon and Bargy Lady duly justified long odds-on favouritism in the Meridian Security Mares Maiden Hurdle.

The daughter of Yeats won a bumper in fine style on her debut at the Listowel Festival, and filled the runner-up spot on her latest two outings in mares’ maiden hurdles.

Walsh elected to make all the running on the well-backed 2/7 chance, and she was in command from two out.

He just pushed her out to go clear on the run-in for an eight lengths verdict over Strike Is Back with Ardean Lass a further four and a quarter lengths away in third.

Walsh said, “She had the best form. She jumped well and kept going in very testing ground. It's hard work out there.

“It was good ground the last day when Toe The Line beat her so she showed she handled better ground that day.”
