A selling winner in his time cross-channel, when he predominantly raced for William Jarvis, Bishan Bedi made a pleasing start for the O'Brien family when taking the Dundalk Stadium-Light Up Your Night Handicap, at his ease under Donnacha.
Bought at Doncaster last September for 5,500 pounds, here the top-weight came through from the rear to lead a furlong out, before going on to score by five and a half lengths from Moss Nation
Well-backed favourite Fairy Foxglove (from around 5/1 earlier in the day into 7/4) had every chance before having to settle for third.
Aidan trains the victorious Intikhab gelding for his wife Annmarie who commented: "We're very pleased with that.
"He was bought to have something for the lads to ride here in Dundalk.
"He was entitled to win on his English form."
Thankfully Danny Mullins and Stroll On were okay after the filly stumbled and unseated rider leaving the stalls.
D.E. Mullins, rider of Stroll On, trained by R.Donohoe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount stumbled on leaving the stalls and unseated him.
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Belts And Braces ridden by C.D. Hayes, Kano's Ghirl ridden by N.G. McCullagh, and Moss Nation (GB), ridden by W.M. Lordan, where it appeared Belts And Braces suffered interference.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion the interference was caused accidentally and so they took no further action.
