Banner beats the bookies
Take Two for 'Banner Road - the gamble' went according to script at Dundalk this evening, with the Eddie Lynam trained filly firstly entering the stalls and then winning the opening www.dundalkstadium.com Hursery Handicap to land a substantial gamble in the process (8/1 in the morning into 2/1f). Banner Road was also the subject of major support (33/1 into single figures) when withdrawn having refused to load at this venue on October 21, but made no mistake this time, overcoming uninspiring ‘000’ form figures to win comfortably.
Ridden by Pat Shanahan, the daughter of Dark Angel led inside the final furlong before eventually defeating the fast finishing on The Kernigal by a length and a half.
Lynam wasn’t present but Shanahan did later say “she went into the stalls no trouble today and came home well – she should be fine over seven furlongs too.”
