An hour and a half after Minding’s excellent Oaks win, her trainer Aidan O’Brien landed a 1-2-3 in the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden at Leopardstown today, as War Decree scored under his son Donnacha O’Brien.
The son of War Front tracked leader Orderofthegarter before moving past his stablemate rival with a furlong to race, and eventually staying on well for a length and a half win. Orderofthegarter was followed further back in third by O’Brien’s other runner Sir Edwin Landseer
Joseph O’Brien, representing the Ballydoyle trained winner, later stated “he been working nicely at home and the three of them ran well and you would have to be delighted.
"There is a chance he may go to Ascot - War Command won this (in 2013) and dropped back to six, so it can be done."
