Ballochroy upsets the odds at Naas
The Dessie Hughes trained Ballochroy caused a 25/1 upset when arriving late to win the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Naas today.
Ridden by 3lbs claimer Ian McCarthy, the son of Mull Of Kintyre quickened well on the run-in to wear down L'Oiseau De Feu close home for a head win.
Afterwards Hughes reported “Ballochroy was well suited by the good ground and Ian (McCarthy) said he loved it out there. He may win another handicap, provided the handicapper isn't too severe on him.”
Ballochroy was having his second run for Hughes having previously been with the recently retired trainer Mick Murphy.
Followers of our resident tipster would have been pleased with this winner after he tipped the 25/1 outsider to win the race.
