Baitsileir signs off on right note for Bolger
A half-brother to the useful Billyford, Baitsileir went off a 12/1 chance for the Panoramic Restaurant Maiden at Naas on the back of an uninspiring debut at Limerick 92 days ago. However he left that effort firmly in the past, coming home best on the stand's side under Kevin Manning to beat Mafi
Jim Bolger bred and trains Baitsileir for his wife Jackie and the three-year-old son of Bachelor Duke is now bound for the Tattersalls July Sale at Newmarket.
Bolger said: "That's timely as he is going to the sales in the morning.
"I couldn't believe he ran so badly first time out. He must have got stage-fright.
"He comes from a good family."
Meanwhile the Stewards interviewed Mr Liam McAteer, trainer, following a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that he had failed to produce an up to date passport for his charge Desert Cloud with validly endorsed vaccinations in accordance with rule 91, this being the second successive occasion that this irregularity has happened.
Evidence was heard from the trainer
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards found Mr McAteer to be in breach of rule 90 (v) and consequently ordered the withdrawal of Desert Cloud and fined Mr McAteer €200 under the provisions of rule 14.
