Back Burner fulfils his promise
Back Burner shed his maiden tag at Cork in good style by five lengths from outsider Hurricane Twister
This son of Big Bad Bob, trained by Jessica Harrington, was heavily backed from 11/2 to 3/1 favourite and scored readily after three previous promising runs in maiden company.
The win gave Jockey Fran Berry a double for the day. He said: “He did it well and might stay further.”
Hurricane Twister belied his odds of 66/1 by edging out Mereli for second place. Mereli representing Mick Halford and Johnny Murtagh drifted in the market from 5/2 to 7/2.
Jim Bolger’s Shazamour was well supported in to 9/2 after her fourth place finish at Listowel on debut but came home sixth.
