Askanna takes bumper for Bowe
Colin Bowe, a prolific trainer in point-to-points, is starting to make his presence felt on the track and saddled the winner of the concluding bumper at Kilbeggan. Askanna hit the front two furlongs from home, under Barry O'Neill, and kept on strongly to score by a length-and-a-half from Raz De Maree
There was drama at the top of the hill with front-running Bright Side Oflife falling under John Thomas McNamara.
"She's a tough mare. The 2m4f was a help as she's won two point-to-points and stayed at it," said Bowe.
