Betterdaysrcoming recorded a 16/1 surprise when getting the better of stablemate Semblance Of Order in the Finlay Volvo Handicap at the Curragh.
The Andy Oliver-trained pair both made headway on the stands’ side over a furlong out and Betterdaysrcoming just proved the stronger under Gary Carroll in the closing stages to prevail by a head. Aussie Girl was a further length and a quarter adrift in third.
Oliver said, "I asked the boys for a dead-heat and we very nearly got it!
“The winner did well, he had a good run last week and needs that good ground.
“He had a long layoff between his first run, on heavy ground, and then last week's run at Naas so we thought he would improve and he has. He was staying on well to the line.
“We'll think of the Britannia at Ascot for him.”
