The Charlie Swan trained Casablanca Lily got the better of Kris Kindle in an exciting finish to the last at Limerick, the Limerickraces.ie Online Booking Mares Ladies Flat Race, providing her jockey Jane Mangan with a double (successful aboard Dont Tell Pa in the second).
The 4yo chestnut daughter of Hurricane Run had three runs to her name before today and was sent off the 11/4 second favourite this afternoon.
She made all but was strongly pressed in the early straight by the 2/1 favourite Kris Kindle under Kate Harrington for Edmond Kent.
The duo had a good battle up the home straight but Casablanca Lily kept on best under pressure in the final furlong and held on well to score by half a length at the line.
Kris Kindle had to settle for second again while the Robert Tyner trained Girl In Blue finished a further eight lengths back in third at 10/3 under Rachel Blackmore.
Jane Mangan said afterwards: "She is very tough and gallops all day. She got through the ground and I wanted to set a strong pace to make sure it would be a test of stamina."
Mangan who turns nineteen on Tuesday, also recorded a double at this meeting last year.
Coincidentally she won the same race last year, aboard Luke’s Benefit and Carries Darling, as she did this year.
