Among Equals more a cut above
Among Equals landed Cork’s opening six furlong two-year-old maiden after a battle with Limetree Lady in the final furlong, as the pair pulled clear of the remainder.
Aidan O’Brien’s colt drifted on course from 3/1 to 4/1 and jockey Joseph O’Brien put up three pounds overweight, but he prevailed by one and a quarter lengths from David Wachman’s filly who looked like making a winning debut.
A good run from Limetree Lady was expected as the Selkirk filly was backed from 20/1 to 14/1 off course and then 12/1 to 10/1 on course. Ellell Duke the 100/30 favourite was a further three lengths back in third from the Seamus Fahey yard. Lanett Lady (7/2 to 5/2) took fourth for Michael Halford. Homecoming Queen Aidan O’Brien’s second string, was all the rage in the sparsely populated betting ring being backed down from 12/1 to 6/1 but the experienced filly faded to finish fifth.
