Trained locally at Clashwilliam, Allez Kal ran out a popular winner of the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle in Gowran.
The Kalanisi mare, an 8/1 chance under Cathal Landers, asserted from before the last to beat the gambled-on The Jam Man by six lengths.
Handler Jimmy Barcoe trains Allez Kal for his wife Yvonne Hennessy.
“She's run a couple of nice races lately and she's improved for it. She actually has the Gowran colours so it's the day for it,” said Barcoe.
“It's great to have a winner any day but I suppose today is more special.
“She probably likes it a bit testing for her style of running. They might get away from her a little bit on better ground.
“In saying that she ran well on the Flat over a mile-and-three one day so she's not as slow as she looks at times!
“Hopefully she's not finished over hurdles.”
T. Ryan, rider of Hows Patsy trained by Stephen Ryan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
