Adilapour repels them in trial
Adilapour produced a game front-running performance to claim the Classic Trial at Gowran Park under Johnny Murtagh.
The John Oxx-trained colt was strongly pressed down the straight in the 1m1f event but kept pulling out enough. Banksters Bonus got his head in front briefly inside the final furlong but Adilapour found more when needed to record a half-length victory.
Adilapour had finished behind the previous winner Banimpire in the Ballysax Stakes last time and was stepping up on that effort today.
"He battled well but he doesn't kill himself and is a bit lazy," said Oxx of the Aga Khan-owned winner.
"But he's a good galloper and likes the distance. You have to make use of him. He handles the ground and had plenty in the tank - it just had to be got out.
"He's a nice horse. A listed race over that distance would be ideal."
