Pat Hughes

Having earlier seen his odds-on favourite Teelin Star disappoint in the point-to-point bumper, Caduceus gave trainer Pat Hughes cause for celebration by landing the ComfyBed Novice Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse under Paul Townend.
It was all over bar a fall up the straight for Caduceus and he eventually came home a convincing eighteen length winner from Talab
Hughes said afterwards: "I thought the showers had ruined his chance as he is better on better ground."
The win was bringing up a double of sorts for the successful breeders, the Lalors from Lisronagh, breeders of Rogue Angel too, first past the post in the point-to-pointers bumper. (MG & EM)
